Question
Which Files cannot or must not be encrypted by SafeGuard LAN Crypt ?

Answer
You must not use SafeGuard LAN Crypt Client to encrypt system files, i.e.:

  • The Windows directory. If the operating system files are encrypted, the operating system will not start.
Note: At the installation, SafeGuard LAN Crypt registers the Windows directory into the list of ignored paths.
  • Swap files (pagefile.sys)
  • Other system files in the root directory, e.g. boot.ini, autoexec.bat, config.sys etc.
The administrator must ensure that these files and directories are not encrypted.
