Question

Does Sophos SafeGuard Disk Encryption support serial-ATA devices?

Answer

Yes, serial-ATA is supported.

Using S-ATA and IDE on one system:
This configuration is supported by Sophos SafeGuard Disk Encryption as long as the first IDE drive remains hard drive 0.

Using S-ATA only on one system:
This configuration is supported by Sophos SafeGuard Disk Encryption as long as the first S-ATA device is hard drive 0.

To verify these settings you could use the "disk management" or "system report" (winmsd).
If you experience that a device other than the one you expected (according to the solutions above) is hard drive 0 then remove this device from the computer, in order to install Sophos SafeGuard Disk Encryption properly.

Hint:
Secure hibernation with S-ATA drives in native or AHCI mode is supported as of Sophos SafeGuard Disk Encryption version 4.60 .
