Question

How to cascade Sophos SafeGuard Disk Encryption and OnCommand CCM?

Answer

Note: This article is based on the assumption that no other software products are installed which also bring their own GINA (i.e. Novell client, PCAnywhere, etc.)

Both GINAs have their own repair mechanism which requires to adjust some registry settings manually:

A quick way if Sophos SafeGuard Disk Encryption (SGGina) is already installed is to enter/edit a registry key:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Utimaco\SGLogon]
"GinaDLLRepair"=dword:00000000

(by default the value is 00000001) and then install the OnCommand software (SMEGina).

OnCommand, too, has some registry settings which allow influencing the behaviour of their GINA.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\csd\control\2.0]
"AcceptOtherGina"=dword:00000001

We recommend to check out the homepage of the manufacturer of OnCommand and to verify whether these settings will also apply for the version you are currently using.
