Question

How to solve the error "(...) Loading Modul, SGEDRV.dll* failed error #126"?

Answer

This problem has been observed on machines where the entry for Sophos SafeGuard Disk Encryption was removed from the PATH variable.

Check the entry for the PATH on the machine and make sure to add C:\PROGRAM FILES\SOPHOS\SAFEGUARD DISK ENCRYPTION (or the appropriate installation directory).

Please note: Due to some restrictions of the operating system the entry for Sophos SafeGuard Disk Encryption has to be stored within the first 256 characters of the PATH variable.

Adjusting the PATH setting for multiple clients:
In cases where this change should be applied from a central administration point, you can do so by modifying the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment

Adjusting the PATH setting on a single client:
If you need to correct the PATH variable on a single client, open -> My Computer -> Properties -> Advanced -> Environment Variables as shown in the screenshot below.
