Question

Can I remove the Sophos Gina after the installation of Sophos SafeGuard Disk Encryption?

Answer

You can use the following syntax to remove the SGGina after a successfull installation of Sophos SafeGuard Disk Encryption.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Utimaco\SGLogon]
"GinaDllRepair"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"GinaDLL"=-

This will make the system use the MSGina again.

Please note: If several 3rd Party Ginas are used, you need to check the Winlogon entry in the registry and set the 3rd Party Gina entry into the GinaDll Reg_SZ.

You can use the attached file to import the changes into the registry. Just rename it to .reg and doubleclick on it.
