Question

How to solve the issue of cascading Sophos Gina with Broadcom Wireless Adapter?

Answer

Note: This article is based on the assumption that no other software products are installed which also bring their own GINA (i.e. Novell client, PCAnywhere, etc.)

There are two basic steps to solve this problem.

First step is to deactivate automatic Gina repair. Just create or edit the following registry key:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Utimaco\SGLogon]
"GinaDLLRepair"=dword:00000000

Next step is to change the Gina order. Edit all registry keys as shown below:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"GinaDLL"="BCMLogon.dll"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Broadcom]
"GINACache"="SGGINA.DLL"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\UTIMACO\SGLogon]
"Original Gina"="MSGina.dll"

This makes the BCMGina the primary one, which refers to the SGGINA, which refers to the MSGINA, which completes the chain.
