Issue
When updating the SafeGuard Enterprise client on a Windows 7 or Vista computer, a "Files in use" message is shown

Known to apply to the following Sophos product(s) and version(s)

SafeGuard Device Encryption

Operating systems
Windows Vista all supported versions
Windows 7 all supported versions

What To Do

The reason for this behavior is the "MS Restart Service". The issue can be avoided by starting the update using this msi parameter:

MSIRESTARTMANAGERCONTROL="Disable"



Examples

msiexec /i path to SGNClient.msi MSIRESTARTMANAGERCONTROL="Disable" 
msiexec /i path to SGNClient.msi /qn MSIRESTARTMANAGERCONTROL="Disable"
