Windows 2000 Professional SP4, Windows XP SP2 Professional Edition

Server OS

Windows 2003 Standard Edition

Question

SafeGuard Easy was installed in Twinboot mode. The Twinboot installation requires to activate floppy disk and removable media encryption (ZIP, MO drives). Floppy disks and removable media remain encrypted as soon as you start the PC from encrypted (business) partition. If you select the plain text (Private) partition, floppy and removable media drives are unencrypted.

How to disable the encryption for removable media?

Answer

SafeGuard Easy users with the appropriate user rights can temporarily switch the removable media encryption on or off.

If you want to disable the removable media encryption permanently, create yourself a windows startup script using SGECrypt with the respective drives.

Example:

SGECRYPT /DRIVE:A=OFF
SGECRYPT /DRIVE:B=OFF

The SafeGuard Easy user that logs on to the machine should be able to temporarily switch the removable media encryption on or off.
