Question

When trying to uninstall SafeGuard Easy via the Emergency Tools, "Fatal error SGE201: Hard disk read failure" appeared. How can I save my data?

Answer

First of all, please make sure that the emergency tools were started before the PBA and not via post-PBA boot.

If the emergency tools were booted before the PBA and SGE201 appears during emergency uninstallation, the harddisk has certainly taken some serious damage (defective sectors). Because of this hardware failure, SafeGuard Easy is unable to unencrypt the harddrive.

The error message means: "SGE201: Hard disk read failure - Direct reading of the disk not possible or only partially possible"

Please save all your data, if possible, and check the harddrive for hard disk failures.

In some cases, data on the harddrive can only be recovered by a professional data recovery center.
