Question

Having installed SafeGuard Easy or another SafeGuard product and a Cisco Systems Aironet WLAN Card on one machine, the GINA cascade (GINA = Graphical Identification and Authentication) no longer works correctly. What can be done to fix this issue?

Answer

Note: This article is based on the assumption that no other software products are installed which also bring their own GINA (i.e. Novell client, PCAnywhere, etc.)

The following registry keys should be modified as described:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"GinaDLL"="SGGINA.DLL"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Utimaco\SGLogon]
"Original Gina"="cscogina.dll"
"ForceKnownGina"=dword:00000001
"GinaDllRepair"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cisco Aironet\Cscogina]
"OldGinaDLL"="MSGINA.DLL"

Hint:
Alternativly the attached file can be renemed from *.txt to *.reg and applyed on the affected system.
