After activating the Password synchronization and handing over the SafeGuard Easy password, following error message appears: "Password synchronization failed due to an unknown error." What can cause this behaviour?
To achieve a succesfull Password synchronization, the following specifications must be fulfilled:
- Activate "Secure Automatic Logon" (SAL)
(Necessary if the SafeGuard Easy User name and Windows User name are different.
Not necessary if the SafeGuard Easy User name and Windows User name are identical.)
- Activate pre-boot authentication
- Modify SafeGuard Easy password rules (If you are using Password Synchronization, Utimaco recommends that you switch off all SafeGuard Easy password rules!)
However, you must make the following setting in SafeGuard Easy:
Minimum age of passwords = 0
After changing the "Minimum passward age" to "0", safe your changes and restart the computer. Now, Password Synchronisation should work as desired.
If you are using Password Synchronization, Utimaco recommends that you switch off all SafeGuard Easy password rules!
If the SafeGuard Easy password rules are not switched off, they may interfere with Windows account rules and lead to inconsistencies.
