The Sophos Message Router and/or Sophos Agent service terminated unexpectedly messages in the Windows Event log

Issue

When viewing the Windows System Event log you see one or both of the following messages:

The Sophos Message Router service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service. 

The Sophos Agent service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service.

Note: The number of times the service has restarted will vary depending on the number of restarts performed.

Cause

When the above services are required to stop, in most cases the services are sent a stop control, however if this fails, the services are terminated after a 30 second timeout.  As both services have 'recovery' configured in order to restart the services after termination, the above messages are logged.

What To Do

These messages are expected in typical operation.  Further investigation is only warranted if there are a large number of these messages in a short period of time.
