Installation of the SafeGuard Encryption Client stops with message

Error 5009 - "Dynamic disks or GPT disks are used on this machine. This hard disk configuration is not supported by SafeGuard Enterprise!"

although the partition is neither a dynamic or GPT disk.

Some vendors deliver new computers with a 100 MB EFI-Systempartition with a GUID partition table (GPT).

What To Do

On x86-, x64- or Itanium-based computers, you can select whether to use the master boot record (MBR) or GUID partition table (GPT) partition style.

Sophos SafeGuard Encryption can only be installed on MBR initialized systems.

To change the partition type, use the DiskPart tool.

Formatting erases any existing files on a hard disk. Backup any necessary files beforehand.
