When Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), or Windows 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1), is installed, 'File and Printer Sharing' may be disabled by default in the Windows Firewall. In some circumstances, you will need to enable 'File and Printer Sharing'.

What to do

To enable 'File and Printer Sharing' in Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) or Windows 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1):

  1. Open Windows Firewall
  2. Click the Exceptions tab
  3. Select 'File and Printer Sharing'
  4. Click 'OK' to confirm.

You may also need to go to Network Properties on the same computer, and enable "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" to allow recent versions of Endpoint to be deployed from Sophos Enterprise Console.
