Due to missing exclusive access to the hard disk on startup, the SafeGuard Base Encryption setup process cannot initialize the kernel installation.

This is a known issue that has been fixed with the release of SafeGuard Enterprise 6.00.1.

What To Do

You have two options:

  • Upgrade to SafeGuard Enterprise 6.00.1
  • If you are unable to upgrade, a hotfix for older versions (SafeGuard 5.50.8, 5.60.1 and 6.0) can be provided by Sophos support.
