Using minicom with Astaro Security Gateway.
Known to apply to the following Sophos product(s) and version(s)
What To Do
Setting up minicom on Linux is highly distribution specific. On SLES9 and SLES10 you need at least the RPMs rzsz and minicom. For sles10 (and therefore AxG V7) they are available here (rzsz) and here (minicom).
$ rpm -i rzsz-*.rpm
$ rpm -i minicom-*.rpm
To setup minicom you have to call minicom:
$ minicom -s
Save your settings later by using the Save setup as dfl, which will write the settings into /etc/minirc.dfl.
Simply go to the menu Serial port setup and change the values for Serial Device (e.g. /dev/ttyS0) and baudrate to your needs.
With AxG V7 baudrate usually is 38400 and also preconfigured on ASG-side.
Then after saving your config you call minicom:
If you use minicom in screen you should change another setting: both programs use CTRL-A as an escape sequence. You should change either minicom or screen to use an escape sequence other than CTRL-A. E. g. to change minicom to use CTRL-B as an escape sequence simply means to start minicom and change the key in the menu cOnfigure Minicom -> Screen and keyboard.
