How to configure Sophos UTM to balance uplink across multiple WAN links.

What to do

1 – Confirm that all network interfaces are properly defined and configured under Interfaces & Routing > Interfaces tab.

2 – Under Interfaces & Routing Uplink balancing tab click the toggle switch.

2a – Click the folder icon in the Active Interfaces box to display the interface list, drag and drop all WAN links to be balanced into the Interfaces: box. (Note: in case of link failure, interfaces will be used in the order displayed, use the blue arrows to change interface order as appropriate).

2c – Optionally click the folder icon in the Standby Interfaces box to display the interface list, drag and drop all WAN links to be balanced into the Interfaces: box. (Note: in case of link failure, interfaces will be used in the order displayed, use the blue arrows to change interface order as appropriate).

2c – Leave the Automatic Monitoring checkbox selected, or clear the checkbox and add specific hosts to use for monitoring into the Monitoring hosts field. Monitoring hosts are used for regular ping checks to verify interface connectivity for all interfaces, and therefore must be available from all interfaces.
3 – Click Apply to save your settings.

4 – Under Interfaces & Routing > Interfaces, click edit the interface that was added in step 2b.

5 – Make sure that the Default GW box is checked, and that the Default GW IP field contains the correct default IP

6 – Click Save

7 – Repeat steps 4-6 for each additional WAN interface added in step 2b
