Issue

You believe that a specified program is supported for management through Sophos Application Control, as defined in the list on the Sophos website. However when you open Sophos Enterprise Console | Application Control Policy, and view the Authorization tab, the applications that are listed under this policy do not match the list (vvf.xml) that is pulled down by the Sophos Update Manager (SUM).

Enterprise Console 4.5.0

What To Do

  1. Delete the subfolder MSDC from the following location (dependent upon operating system)
    • Windows 2000/XP/2003
      C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sophos\Sophos Endpoint Management\[console version - e.g., 5.2.1]\Updates\Secure\SDFs\SophosMA\sec\MSDC
    • Windows Vista and above
      C:\ProgramData\Sophos\Sophos Endpoint Management\[console version - e.g., 5.2.1]\Updates\Secure\SDFs\SophosMA\sec\MSDC
  2. Force an update of Sophos Update Manager as follows:
    • Open Sophos Enterprise Console | Update Managers
    • Right-click the relevant update manager and select Update Now.
This will obtain the latest vvf.xml and re-create the previously deleted folder structure.
