How to temporarily disable SafeGuard Enterprise Configuration Protection.

Known to apply to the following Sophos product(s) and version(s)

SafeGuard Configuration Protection

What To Do

As of SafeGuard Enterprise 5.60, you can temporarily disable Configuration Protection on the client if this was defined via policy. In order to use this feature you need to define the ability to disable Configuration Protection temporarily when defining the Configuration Protection policy,

Once this feature has been enabled the module can be disabled using Challenge / Response.

On the Client:

  • Right-click the SafeGuard Enterprise tray Icon, select Suspend Configuration Protection, then select the time frame. Then call the help desk and provide the challenge code.

 On the Management Center:

  • Open the SafeGuard Management Center, select Tools | Suspend | Select Domain and User | Enter challenge Code, and provide the response code back to the user.

Configuration Protection is now disabled for the defined time period,  but it can be enabled by the user at any time before the time expires.
