| CVE/CAN name | CVE-2011-0096 |
| Vendor threat level | |
| SophosLabs threat level | High |
| Solution | |
| Vendor description | The vulnerability exists due to way MHTML interprets MIME formatted requests for content blocks within a document. It is possible under certain conditions for this vulnerability to allow an attacker to inject a client-side script in the user's Internet Explorer instance. The script could spoof content, disclose information, or take any action that the user could take on the affected Web site on behalf of the targeted user. |
| SophosLabs comments | This vulnerability allows specially crafted web pages to execute code in any "zone" regardless of which zone was specified. Any application using Microsoft's HTML renderer is vulnerable including Internet Explorer. Applications that always open web content in the "Restricted Zone" are not affected including Outlook, Outlook Express and Windows Mail. |
