SafeGuard LAN Crypt Client: a blue screen appears after installing ZESM (Novell endpoint protection) on a PC with SafeGuard LAN Crypt Client 3.71.0.19 installed

Issue
In some cases when SafeGuard LAN Crypt Client 3.71.0.19 and ZESM (Novell endpoint protection) are installed on the same PC a blue screen(UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (7f)) is displayed.

This issue occurs after logging in to Windows 7.

What To Do

You should configure "\Device\ZesDisk" as an unhandled application on the client, either by editing the registry or by using group policy.

1. Editing the registry:

  1. Open your registry (Start--->Run and type Regedit) and navigate to the registry key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\UTIMACO\SGLCENC]
  2. Add a new "REG_SZ" with following information:
    Name: ExcludedDevices
    Type: REG_SZ
    Value : \Device\ZesDisk

Example: "ExcludedDevices"="\Device\ZesDisk;"

2. Configuring group policy:

  1. Computer Configuration | Windows Settings | SafeGuard | LAN Crypt Configuration | Unhandled Devices
  2. Add unhandled device - Enter a devicename "\Device\ZesDisk"
