A BSOD (unmountable_boot_volume, Stop Code 0x000000ED) occurs while booting a system from an encrypted drive with a SafeGuard Enterprise runtime installation.

Known to apply to the following Sophos product(s) and version(s)
SafeGuard Enterprise Device Encryption 5.50

Operating System
Windows Vista 64bit, Windows 7 64bit

What To Do

This issue is fixed as of SafeGuard Enterprise Device Encryption 5.60.

The SafeGuard Enterprise runtime installation (just relevant for multi-boot installations) on a 64bit OS requires an additional step after the installation and prior to the encryption of the corresponding system volume.

Please create a file with the following content and store it with the extension ".reg". Apply this registy key after installing the runtime installation package (SGNClientRuntime_x64.msi).

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
"Group"="Primary Disk"
