What is the advantage of SafeGuard Enterprise Service Accounts?

Known to apply to the following Sophos product(s) and version(s)

SafeGuard Device Encryption

Operating systems
All supported operating systems

What To Do

With service accounts, the administrator can now define templates of Windows user names that will not trigger activation of the Power-on Authentication (POA) of SafeGuard Enterprise after installation. This is particularly useful in scenarios where service personnel still need to perform maintenance and installation tasks on computers that have just got SafeGuard Enterprise installed. They can do so now without having to activate the POA.

The activation of the POA can then be done by the end-user, whose Windows user name does not match the service account templates, once he gets the fully prepared computer handed over for his work. This function is available for standalone and managed clients and makes rollout scenarios much more efficient.
