Is it possible to change the Sophos SafeGuard Disk Encryption logon background picture?


Yes it's possible. Please check the step-by-step description below:

- rename the current SgeLogo. bmp file to have a backup available (e.g. SgeLogo.old)
- copy your custom bitmap to c:\windows\system32\

Bitmap requirements:

The new file must be located in c:\windows\system32\ and must be named "SgeLogo.bmp".

The size of the title bitmap is 640x480 pixels and it has a maximum color depth of 8 bits.

Use the Registry editor or SafeGuard.adm, to check if the Sophos SafeGuard Disk Encryption background is enabled or disabled:

Registry Editor:

"SgeLogoBackGnd"=dword:00000000 // disable

"SgeLogoBackGnd"=dword:00000001 // enable

For Group Policy Object Configuration you can use the below Policy:

Computer configuration
\Administrative Templates

On the "SDE" property page deselect the "Show background bitmap on WinLogon desktop" option and the Sophos SafeGuard Disk Encryption bitmap will no longer appear.
