It is possible to defragment volume files?

Under windows, a private disk volume file exists as a single file and single files cannot be defragmented.

When the volume file is opened with Private Disk, you can see it as a virtual drive but for Windows, it is not a hard drive because the open virtual drive isn't available as a hard drive in the disk management.
