Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP

Server OS

Scenario: On an IBM/Lenovo machine, both SafeGuard Easy 4.5x and Rescue and Recovery (RnR) version 2.x are in use.

Is it possible to update the Rescue and Recovery version (e.g. to version 3.x) without reinstallation of SafeGuard Easy? What has to be considered?

Yes, it is possible to update Rescue and Recovery without uninstallation of SafeGuard Easy.

However, some additional steps are mandatory to ensure the SafeGuard Easy encryption drivers are included in the Rescue and Recovery partition.

After updating Rescue and Recovery, follow the steps outlined below:

1. Do not restart after the Rescue and Recovery update.

2. Start MBRsync.exe from the SafeGuard Easy program directory to update the RnR changes in the MBR.

3. Start WinPERepair.exe from the SafeGuard Easy program directory to add the SafeGuard Easy encryption drivers to the RnR partition.

4. Reboot the system.
