Question
How to use the command line tool (SGLCInit.exe) for initial encryption?

Answer
After the installation of SafeGuard LAN Crypt, an initial encryption has to be performed. This -encrypts all data according to the loaded encryption profile.

An initial encryption also has to be carried out if the encryption profile has been changed. Besides using the explorer extensions, an initial encryption can also be performed using a command line application included in SafeGuard LAN Crypt.

The command line application SGLCInit.exe supports encryption, decryption and re--cryption of files

Note:

Encryption, decryption and re-cryption are always performed according to the loaded encryption profile. Therefore, an encryption profile always has to be loaded and encryption must not be deactivated when an initial encryption is performed.

SGLCInit.exe has to be called with certain parameters from the directory where it resides:

    Command line syntax:

    SGLCInit <files | startpath | %Profile>[/S][/Te]
[/Tdk KEYNAME1 {KEYNAMEn}][/V0][/V1 | /V2 | /V3][/E][/LLogfile]

    Parameter:

files specifies a single file to en-, de- or recrypt. (e.g. C:\Data\Sales.doc)

Startpath specifies the directors to begin with en-, de- or recryption (e.g. D:\Data) Per default subdirectories are not included!

%Profile processes all rules specified in the loaded encryption profiles and en-, de- or recrypts files if required.

/S includes subdirectories of the directory specified under startpath.

/Te encrypts (if necessary) files according to the encryption profile.

/Tr recrypts files (if necessary) according to the encryption profile.

/Td decrypts files (if necessary) according to the encryption profile.

/Tdk decrypts files which are encrypted using one of the specified keys (KEYNAME1 KEYNAME2 ....).

Note: Under KEYNAME the internal keyname, as it is displayed in the Administration under Keyname in the list of all available keys, has to be used.

/V0 no messages are displayed on the screen during the process.

/V1 error messages are displayed on the screen.

/V2 all processed files are displayed on the screen.

/V3 detailed information is displayed on the screen, which files are processed, which keys are used and error messages.

/E the process is stopped if an error occurs. If this parameter is omitted, the process does not stop, even if files are not correct en-, de, recrypted.

/LLogfile if this parameter is used, detailed information is written to the file specified under logfile .

Please Note: The command line tool (SGLCInit.exe) has been extended from version 3.7 and higher, as shown here:
