Question
How is the DEK (Data Encryption Key) generated on the client?

Answer
When a file is created which must be encrypted, LAN Crypt generates a DEK and stores the DEK encrypted with the KEK (Key Encryption Key) in the file header. (Note that KEK is defined by LAN Crypt security officers during administration and assigned to encryption rules). For the key generation we use a strong PRNG (pseudo random number generator). This is also used for generating the KEKs in the administration.
