The world of malware fundamentally changed in 2007, as hackers fully embraced the web as their primary route for infecting computers. War is waged on the world wide web
We discover 6000 new webpages every day infected by Trojan horses, viruses and spyware - that's one every 14 seconds. 83% of those webpages belong to innocent people and companies, who may have no idea that their website has been hacked. As protection against new threats is developed, cybercriminals continue to change their tactics, hacking into high traffic websites to plant their malware, poisoning web advert systems, or spamming out malicious email links to lure the unwary into infection.
Malware authors see money in Macintosh
For the first time, malware authors are viewing Apple Macs as a revenue-generating opportunity, enticing unsuspecting surfers into downloading malicious code onto their Macs, or installing scareware, with the intention of stealing money.
Mobile phones and Wi-Fi devices
Despite the predictions of some security vendors, mobile phones continue to pose a small malware threat in comparison to other devices. We examine the impact iPhones, iPod Touches, ultra-mobile PCs and other Wi-Fi-enabled devices will have on the malware landscape in 2008.
Who is behind the cybercrime?
Countries have accused each other of espionage and attacks over the internet - but who is relaying the most spam, hosting the most infected webpages and not doing enough to clean up the computers within their borders? Find out in the report.
