NetApp (7-mode or off-board scanning using a separate Windows scanning server)

  • Computer to provide virus scanning
    Uses the standard Windows Sophos Anti-Virus client to provide scanning.
    Server operating system recommended.

  • Sophos Anti-Virus for NetApp management
    This MMC snap-in interface allows configuration of NetApp specific settings, such as which filers to accept connections from. This is commonly only used during initial setup.
    Ongoing anti-virus management and reporting is carried out from the Sophos Enterprise Console, or the local Sophos anti-virus interface.
    Requirements for Sophos Anti-Virus for NetApp interface MMC snap-in:
    Windows 2000/XP/Vista, Windows Server 2003, 2008 and 2008 R2
    (server version recommended)
    2 MB disk space
    2 MB available memory
    Windows Installer 2.0 or later
    Microsoft Management Console 1.2 or later

You can use the same computer to provide virus scanning and the MMC interface, or you can use different computers.

  • Additionally, please contact EMC for a VEE license and their CAVA software.
  • Sophos can protect Celerra, VNX and VNXe storage systems.

Sun
  • Scanning for Sun storage systems requires two Sophos components: the standard anti-virus client (SAV) provides the scanning capability and the SAVDI product which provides the scanning interface for Sun/Oracle ZFS.
  • SAVDI requires approximately 1 MB of free RAM and 1 MB of disk space.
  • The SAV requirements vary by platform:
