The IT security and control firm Sophos announced today that, in
February 2009, SC
Magazine tested Sophos's web appliance, WS1000, which
blocks the full range of Web threats at the gateway and enables
complete web access control for safe, productive web browsing. The
magazine awarded WS1000 a 5-out-of-5 star overall rating, praising
it's ease-of-use and its comprehensive three-stage approach to web
content filtering and management.
SC Magazine's Test Lab noted that WS1000 was "easy to use from
the moment we took it out of the box."
The reviewer commended Sophos's web appliance for its
comprehensive policy management and control, highlighting its
easy-to-use web-based management console, which delivers insight
and control over all systems via a single dashboard. A
wizard-driven configuration interface helps simplify the set up of
policies, Active Directory and FTP.
The reviewer concluded that the WS1000 "appliance is packed with
solid features and has very little administration or learning curve
overhead" and found "it to be a good value for the money."
The WS1000 protects against spyware, viruses, phising, malware
and unwanted applications, providing a complete infrastructure for
secure browsing and eliminating the complexity of administering
effective web security. As a managed appliance, it features
automatic updates every 5 minutes, remote "heartbeat" monitoring
and on-demand remote assistance, ensuring the most dependable web
security in the industry.
