Utimaco - The Data Security Company, today announced that its
SafeGuard Enterprise solution is now included as a DoD Data-at-Rest
Tiger Team (DARTT) recommended product, paving the way for
successful penetration of the federal government market. Through
partnerships with Information Security Corporation (ISC) and
Carahsoft Technology Corp., federal government agencies can now
secure their critical data using Utimaco's award-winning SafeGuard
Enterprise encryption solution.
Having already had great success with major government agencies
in Europe, including Germany, France and The UK, Utimaco's
inclusion on the DARTT contract expands its presence in the US
government sectors. Utimaco SafeGuard solutions provide the
best-in-class data security agencies need to offer flexible,
anytime, anywhere access to their administrators, staff, students
and researchers-while at the same time, ensuring against data
breaches that could reveal proprietary information and personal and
financial records.
SafeGuard Enterprise, through an alliance created between
Utimaco and ISC, now features additional data-at-rest protection to
meet the specific needs of government customers. As a result of the
alliance, ISC's SpyProof! solution - which creates sharable,
AES-encrypted virtual drives on local hard drives and remote
servers - is now offered alongside SafeGuard Enterprise, Utimaco's
flagship full disk encryption solution that secures data on
endpoints and removable media.
The entire cryptographic library of Utimaco's SafeGuard
Enterprise portfolio is certified by the National Institute of
Standards and Technology (NIST) in accordance with Federal
Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2. FIPS certification
provides customers with objective help in decision making and
creates an atmosphere of trust and acceptance in important customer
sectors.
"We are pleased to add Utimaco's solution to our DARTT
contract," said Craig P.Abod, President of Carahsoft, which is a
leading government IT solutions provider. "Through this partnership
between ISC and Utimaco, we are now able to provide our government
customers with full disk and file encryption solutions to manage
and protect their data."
According to the DARTT, which is a multi-agency USG Task Force
established to provide DAR encryption solutions for mobile
computing devices and removable storage media, protecting data at
rest and in motion has become increasingly critical in today's
government IT environment of highly mobile data and decreasing
device size. With both personal and government information stored
on devices such as cell phones, notebook computers and jump drives,
agencies are at high risk if these devices are lost or stolen. As a
result, DARTT has put in place rigorous standards with stringent
technical and information assurance requirements for security
providers selling to the government market.
Tom Venn, President of ISC, said: "Our partnering with Utimaco
represents the joining of two stalwart brands in data security,
each bringing unparalleled technology expertise to provide the
critical encryption solutions that government agencies need
now."
"Extending our business to the U.S. government vertical
represents a significant step forward for Utimaco, as we've already
seen tremendous headway and growth in other top markets including
financial services, healthcare and education," said Craig F.
Bumpus, Chief Operating Officer of Utimaco Inc. "We look forward to
deepening our partnerships with Carahsoft and ISC to achieve great
success in meeting the security needs of government agencies."
Security experts from Utimaco and Carahsoft will host a
complementary webinar, "Encryption: Top IT Security Initiative in
2009," on March 3 to describe how agencies can leverage Utimaco's
solutions to:
- Achieve better compliance with enhanced data security
coverage
