IT security and control firm Sophos announced today that the
September 2008 edition of Information Security Magazine has tested
Sophos
Endpoint Security and Control and awarded Sophos a B+ average,
with the following grades across four categories:
Installation/Configuration (B), Policy (A), Logging and Reporting
(C) and Effectiveness (A).
Information Security Magazine noted that "Sophos Endpoint
Security and Control can easily replace a number of individual
security products aimed at endpoint protection", because it
simplifies the administration and management of network security
with a single solution also that "the installation of the
enterprise console and NAC server is straightforward as the console
dashboard offers comprehensive access to managed computers,
updates, alerts, policies, protection and errors."
Additionally, the reviewer stated that "Sophos has long been a
leader in the antimalware space, with superior scanning engines and
a research division that stays on top of emerging threats." The lab
was particularly fond of the way that Sophos goes beyond the
industry's traditional signatures and basic heuristics to identify
malware and unwanted files, code and behaviors.
The reviewer concluded that "Sophos Endpoint Security and
Control effectively covers all the bases for security on endpoint
devices."
Sophos Endpoint Security and Control gives businesses the best
proactive protection against viruses, malware and unwanted
applications across a wide range of platforms for desktops,
laptops, file servers and mobile devices. The company is the first
endpoint vendor to incorporate NAC, enabling enterprises to keep
all managed, unmanaged and guest computers on their networks
healthy with up-to-date protection. One scan using Sophos's faster,
lower impact agent will detect malware, adware, suspicious files
and behavior, and unauthorized software.
