Sophos Anti-Virus has won the VB100 award again
Sophos, a world leader in IT security and control, today
announced that Sophos
Anti-Virus 7.0 has been awarded the accolade of VB100 in the
February 2008 edition of Virus Bulletin magazine. This is the 40th
time that Sophos Anti-Virus has won a prestigious VB100 award,
confirming its ability to detect 100% of the viruses in the wild,
and its position as one of the most powerful virus protection
products available.
Virus Bulletin tested 27 different anti-virus products for their
detection rates, lack of false alarms, and speed of scanning on the
Windows Server 2003 platform. Sophos successfully detected all of
the in-the-wild viruses (as well as identifying 100% of the file,
polymorphic, worms and DOS viruses) with no false alarms,
outperforming a number of other vendors.

"Congratulations to Sophos for achieving its 40th VB100 award,"
said John Hawes, technical consultant at Virus Bulletin.
"Installation and configuration of Sophos's product slid by without
any trouble, and it demonstrated excellent scanning speeds with its
default settings. Its 100% detection of Virus Bulletin's
in-the-wild virus collection meant it was a worthy recipient of
another VB100 award."
All Sophos products use the same technology to protect against
viruses, worms, spyware, Trojan horses and other malware, ensuring
consistently high detection rates across all operating systems.
About the Virus Bulletin 100% award
The Virus Bulletin 100% awards recognise those products best
able to detect viruses known to be 'in the wild'. Unlike some other
similar-sounding schemes, Virus Bulletin uses the most up-to-date
WildList in its tests. This means that products that are 'up with
the game' are the ones most likely to be granted VB100 awards. More
