Data leakage prevention discussed in Sophos podcast
Graham Cluley explores the consequences of accidental data loss via email
Sophos senior technology consultant Graham Cluley discusses
accidental email data leakage.
IT security and control firm Sophos, today announced the
availability of a new Sophos podcast, discussing what companies
should be doing to protect themselves against the growing concern
of data leakage.
In the podcast, senior technology consultant Graham Cluley is
interviewed by Carole Theriault about how data can be lost (either
accidentally or deliberately), the consequences companies face that
lose confidential data, and what tools are available to prevent
data leakage via email.
"Although companies can't strip search employees in order to
prevent confidential documents leaving the business premises each
day, they can take steps to help fight electronic data leakage,"
said Carole
Theriault, host of the Sophos podcasts. "Research has shown
that approximately 95% of data loss is accidental so companies need
to wise up to this inside threat. This podcast offers concise
advice about what companies need to be doing to try and prevent
their employees emailing a document to someone they shouldn't,
whether that be accidental or not."
All Sophos podcasts are available for
download. Previous podcasts have covered topics such as the
dangers
of social networking sites, zero-day
threats, corporate
security policies, network access control,
and rootkits.
