Sophos's Gurusamy Sarathy discusses managed appliances in the
podcast.
Sophos, a world leader in IT security and control, today
announced that it has published a new podcast
discussing the benefits of managed appliances, and whether they
spell the end to desktop security.
In the podcast, Sophos chief technologist Gurusamy Sarathy
describes what managed appliances are, and how customers can
benefit from security vendors 'owning' the security problem.
"Many businesses are fed up with securing themselves against
threats and are looking for easier-to-manage offerings. Security
appliances continue to grow in popularity as a way to secure a
network infrastructure from all the bad stuff out there, whether it
comes in from email or directly from surfing the web," said
Carole Theriault,
host of the Sophos podcast. "Others still have turned to
third-parties to manage all their security needs, but this solution
is not for everyone, as many companies are not comfortable with
handing over full trust to an outside party."
Sophos has produced managed appliances to protect the enterprise
email and web gateways against internet
security threats.
"Sophos's managed appliances deliver the best of both worlds. By
offering an appliance that is controlled in-house and baby-sat by
security experts, it may just be the answer to many security
problems that businesses face today," continued Theriault. "This
in-depth podcast gives listeners an introduction to the technology
and the business challenges that led to its development."
