Sophos, a world leader in IT security and control, today
announced that it will be hosting the Information Systems Security
Association (ISSA) Security Day at its UK headquarters close to
Oxford on Thursday 22 March.
Mark Harris, Graham Cluley and principal virus researchers Vanja
Svajcer and Fraser Howard will be tackling the technical subjects
of malware and spam at the UK chapter meeting.
Mark Harris, head of SophosLabsâ„¢, will be
presenting an exclusive behind-the-scenes examination of how
Sophos's global network of threat detection centers operate, whilst
Cluley will be exploring 20 years of computer virus threats.
Vanja Svajcer will be showing delegates methods for analyzing
malware without needing to be an expert in assembly language, and
demonstrating some of the latest threats "live". Fraser Howard will
discuss the issue of web security, with a special focus on malware
and the techniques used to compromise websites.
The meeting is an invitation-only event for ISSA members,
tailored to address the current and future malware challenges for
IT security professionals, and also to present useful tips for
strategic and best practice procedures.
The ISSA Security Day will include a guided tour of Sophos's
high security laboratory facilities, where thousands of malware
samples and spam campaigns are examined each week.
"Events like this are an essential element in helping share
information between big business and security vendors about the
latest malware threats," said Graham Cluley, senior
technology consultant at Sophos. "Sophos welcomes initiatives like
this event to raise awareness of the latest security risks and to
discuss the most effective ways of managing them."
