White Stuff has chosen to deploy Sophos's security solution.
Sophos, a world leader in IT security and control, has announced
that White Stuff, the retailer of urban and outdoor clothing for
men and women, has deployed its security solutions at stores,
warehouses and offices throughout the UK.
Using Sophos
Anti-Virus and Sophos PureMessage
for Windows Exchange, the retailer is protected against
viruses, spyware, Trojans and spam both on desktop computers and at
the email gateway. The solution was supplied and installed by
Softcat, the company's IT software supplier.
Since the installation in late 2006, the company has seen a
dramatic reduction in the amount of spam entering its email
network. This has also freed up both time and resources as system
administrators now spend significantly fewer hours securing the
network.
White Stuff's existing software-based solution, designed to
defend its PCs against malware and spam, was proving time consuming
to manage. Furthermore, the company was receiving a multitude of
spam messages every day and managing the anti-spam software was a
time intensive process requiring considerable user input which
detracted from the day-to-day work at White Stuff. Upon renewal,
the software was unable to scale cost-effectively to meet the
company's aggressive growth plans - deciding to replace this
solution, White Stuff evaluated a number of competitive,
software-based products.
Having taken White Stuff's specific business issues and
experiences of their existing solution into account, Sophos's
Certified partner Softcat recommended Sophos's products for their
ease of installation, use and management. White Stuff was also
attracted to Sophos's free-of-charge 24/7 customer support.
Sophos now protects White Stuff's employees based at its London
headquarters, two warehouses in Leicester and Fareham and at a
number of its retail stores. The retailer is also planning to roll
out this solution to more than 80 existing stores, plus to the new
shops it plans to open each year. The scalability and
cost-effectiveness of this security solution was a key factor in
White Stuff's decision to choose Sophos.
"Since we started using Sophos, we've seen a massive reduction
in spam - saving us valuable time and IT resources," said Venn
Luscombe-Mahoney, head of IT for White Stuff. "We chose Sophos
because its product are simple to manage and for the company's
round-the-clock support, but in the last four months we haven't
even had to call once - the solution just works in the background
providing regular updates and excellent protection with minimal
user input."
With several remote sites and many home workers, it was
important that White Stuff's IT security solutions could be
centrally deployed by the head office IT team across the whole of
the retailer's wide area network. Compared with the previous
solution, Sophos Anti-Virus and PureMessage can be installed in a
matter of minutes. They require little ongoing maintenance and do
not burden the memory of individual PCs and servers.
"Regardless of size, no organisation should have to put up with
spam and malware attacks. Additionally protecting against these
threats should not be time-consuming and impact on the day-to-day
running of the company," said Annie Gay,
vice president, EMEA at Sophos. "Ensuring that anti-malware and
anti-spam solutions are effective and easy to manage is especially
important for small businesses where resources can be scarce and
they need a solution they can trust to do the job with minimal
input."
