Sophos, a world leader in integrated threat management
solutions, today announced that The Reef Hotel Casino, Australia,
has selected Sophos's award-winning security suite to provide
protection against viruses, spyware, spam and email policy
abuse.
Located in Cairns, North Queensland, The Reef Hotel Casino is
owned by the ASX-listed Reef Casino Trust and features a five-star
Hotel with 128 rooms managed by Sofitel. For the year-ended
December 2005, The Reef Casino Trust recorded a net profit of
AU$14.8 million.
The Reef Hotel Casino employs 500 staff and will use Sophos Anti-Virus to protect its 120 workstations
and 10 Windows servers. The company will also deploy Sophos PureMessage to protect its email
gateway.
Sophos's integrated solutions will assist The Reef Hotel Casino
in maintaining a high standard of corporate compliance, by
providing protection for the Casino's sensitive information such as
guest information, credit card details, employee and shareholder
records.
The Reef Hotel Casino's IT Manager, Scott Harris, said that they
recognized the need for a low maintenance and centrally managed
security system that could be trusted to operate effectively across
its infrastructure. After completing a 30-day trial, Harris says he
is already experiencing the benefits of being a Sophos
customer.
"Right from the word go, the ease of access we had to Sophos's
experienced technical staff was a standout service that we have
never experienced before with other vendors."
Harris said that the integrated anti-spam and anti-virus
protection, multi-platform functionality, central administration
and outstanding support offered by Sophos were the key
differentiators in its decision to change security software
vendors.
"With Sophos we experienced a very smooth installation. Once
everything was up and running, Sophos's automatic updates
immediately kicked in, and we have noticed a significant decrease
in network traffic due to the small size of these hourly downloads
compared with those of other vendors we have used previously."
The Reef Hotel Casino is currently rolling out Sophos's
solutions across its entire network. Harris said that once this is
complete the company will take advantage of Sophos's licence that
extends protection to the home PCs of its employees.
Sophos's managing director for Asia Pacific, Rob Forsyth,
said, "The Reef Hotel Casino has made the winning bet with Sophos
and they join the rapidly growing legion of Sophos customers that
are gaining significant value from our solutions."
