| Aga's networks are defended from malware by
Sophos. |
Aga Foodservice Group (AFG), the producer of premium range
cookers and refrigerators for the domestic, commercial and bakery
markets, has deployed Sophos Anti-Virus and PureMessage to defend its networks
against viruses, Trojans, worms and malicious spyware. The system
was provided and installed by Sophos partner, faIT UK.
Despite having 4,000 employees worldwide and around 1,400
workstations in the UK, AFG's IT operations are predominantly
subcontracted. The company recognized the need for a low
maintenance security system that could be trusted to operate
effectively across its extensive infrastructure, without the need
for on-site expertise. Sophos fought off the competition to emerge
as AFG's new security provider, with its offering of a
high-performance solution that would prove simple to operate across
the board.
"We already used Sophos Anti-Virus and PureMessage at one site
and had been very impressed with its ease of manageability," said
Dave Hounslow, Group IT manager. "When I was invited by faIT to
Sophos headquarters, I was able to see how impressive the whole
operation is and I knew that the Group's security would be in good
hands. Even though Sophos is an international company, we still
felt that we could knock on its door for any support we might
need."
AFG is deploying Sophos Anti-Virus on its desktop computers and
PureMessage at its email gateway. This multi-tier protection
against emerging threats can be easily managed and incorporates
virus detection, policy enforcement and content management. With
more than 1,000 new viruses now appearing in a typical month, AFG
also chose Sophos's solutions for their quick and convenient
automatic updating capabilities.
"As with many companies AFG does not have a large on-site IT
team," said Don Finley managing director of faIT UK. "Because each
of its subsidiaries work independently, they all have slightly
different network configurations, making it a potentially complex
infrastructure to manage without a viable solution. The flexibility
of Sophos's products, together with their robust security, made
them an ideal match for AFG's needs."
