NERCOMP announces licensing agreement with Sophos

New partnership to deliver range of benefits to NERCOMP member institutions

NERCOMP (North East Regional Computing Program), today announced that is has partnered with Sophos, a leading provider of integrated threat management solutions, to extend discounted pricing of 50% to NERCOMP members, representing an additional 20% savings from Sophos's customary educational discount. These benefits are extended to Sophos's enterprise-class product line that includes protection for each entry point on the network. In addition to discounted software, Sophos will provide security training for NERCOMP members, as well as opportunities for interested member schools to participate in beta-release programs.

Sophos's worldwide spam and virus analysis monitoring centers, SophosLabs™ is focused on rapidly evolving threats like viruses, spam, phishing, spyware and other malware, providing both proactive and rapid solutions for all Sophos customers. Sophos uses forensic analysis called Genotype™ detection technology to identify suspicious patterns and characteristics that are unique to either a virus family or a spam campaign, allowing organizations to further reduce exposure to unidentified threats and unwanted content. Sophos was also one of the first companies to attain spyware certification and now analyzes and protects against more than 500 new spyware samples every month.

In order to participate in this agreement, member schools must purchase a minimum of 100 user licenses. Server licenses are priced individually. Members can obtain more information and purchase Sophos solutions through Software House International (SHI). Interested parties should contact Barbara West of SHI at (508) 799-5433 or via email at: barb_west@shi.com.
