Sophos, a world leader in protecting businesses against viruses
and spam, has announced the appointment of Charles Southey as vice
president of IT. Southey will be responsible for managing Sophos's
internal systems and infrastructure, along with the 60-strong
global IT team, in order to meet Sophos's current needs and
accommodate future growth.
In addition to ensuring the systems keep pace with the company's
growing size and sophistication, Southey's role will be to
streamline Sophos's internal business processes through the use of
technology combined with business and organisational
understanding.
Prior to joining Sophos, Southey was a strategic IT consultant
at global law firm Baker & McKenzie, where he worked with the
CIO to integrate IT support and service delivery across Europe.
Southey has also held senior IT management roles at Allen &
Overy and Procter & Gamble, and has more than 20 years of
experience in IT.
"I am delighted to accept this position with a global player in
IT security," said Southey. "I have always worked with
organisations who rank among the very best in their fields - and
Sophos is certainly in that category. Great companies must excel at
everything they do - IT has a critical role in this and I very much
look forward to playing my part in Sophos's ongoing success."
"As Sophos continues its expansion, it is vital that we continue
to offer a consistently high level of service to each of our
customers around the world," said Dr Jan Hruska, CEO of Sophos.
"Our customers' networks depend in part on the reliability and
resiliency of our own infrastructure. We are pleased to welcome
Charles to this new role - his appointment will help boost employee
efficiency and further improve customer service."
