Lynnfield, MA - Sophos, a global leader in network security,
announced today that Mark Hatton
has been appointed to president, North America. In addition, as
Sophos continues to build momentum in and focus on the North
American network security market, the company also announced
promotions in its marketing, operations and finance
departments.
Recognizing that North America offers enormous opportunity for
Sophos, these key positions are essential to the company's strategy
for success. Today, Sophos has nine offices and 930 employees
worldwide, with 30% of the company's total staff based in North
America. Sophos plans to continue its investment of effectively
targeting critical markets and hiring employees to support these
efforts.
Mark Hatton joined Sophos in 2002 and has served as North
American vice president of sales and general manager. He assumes
the role of president, North America from Steve Munford, who was
recently appointed to the newly created position of chief operating
officer for Sophos's global operations in the United Kingdom.
Hatton brings more than 18 years of diverse general management,
sales and operations experience to the role of president. He has
worked with venture capital-backed early-stage software companies
including EC Cubed, Inc. as well as Pinacor, a MicroAge company, a
Fortune 500 information technology services organization. Prior to
Sophos, he was vice president, Worldwide Sales at Tilion, Inc.
Other recent promotions at Sophos in North America include the
appointment of Gregg Mastoras to vice president of marketing.
Mastoras has worked at Sophos since August 2004. Bruce McDonald was
appointed to the newly created role of vice president of operations
North America & general manager of Sophos's Vancouver, British
Columbia office and has been with Sophos since May 2004. Former
director of finance, Jim Zadra has been promoted to vice president
of finance North America and has been with Sophos since October
2002.
