Sophos, a world leader in protecting businesses against spam and
viruses, will be hosting a coffee morning at its global
headquarters in Abingdon, near Oxford, as part of the World's
Biggest Coffee Morning, organised by Macmillan Cancer Relief on
Friday morning, 24 September starting at 10am.
Macmillan Cancer Relief is a UK charity that works to improve
the quality of life for people living with cancer. Macmillian
research states that every day, 747 people in the UK are told they
have cancer. There are more than one million people in the UK who
have had a cancer diagnosis.
Sophos will open its doors to the public from 10 to 11.30 on
Friday morning and will offer hot tea and coffee at £1 per cup, as
well as delicious cakes, baked by the Sophos staff, available at £1
per slice. All proceeds will be donated to Macmillan Cancer
Relief.
Sophos's
high-security headquarters, on the Abingdon Science Park off
Audlett Drive in Abingdon, was officially opened by Her Majesty the
Queen in February 2004. It covers a total area of 145,000 sq ft.
Sophos is one of the largest employers in the county, with
currently more than 420 members of staff in its Abingdon
office.
"We hope to raise as much money as possible for cancer relief,"
said Carole Theriault at Sophos. "Having a large facility means
that we can welcome both businesses and residents in the area to
visit our premises for a great cause. We are looking forward to a
large turnout of coffee drinkers, and can assure visitors that spam
will not be on the menu!"
Macmillan offers information, expert care and practical support
to make a real difference to people living with cancer. It offers a

million.
