Sophos receives prestigious German TÜV certificate

Sophos is the first vendor of anti-virus and anti-spam software
to have received a certificate from the German Association for
Technical Inspection (TÜV). The certificate was awarded for
Sophos's flagship product, Sophos Anti-Virus.
TÜV Saarland awarded the certificate after conducting a
comprehensive test of four email providers and the virus protection
offered by each of them.
The test focused on virus detection rates, whether any false
positives were discovered, and the efficiency of the anti-virus
software. In total, the different anti-virus products were tested
against 367 different file, macro and script viruses.
Sophos Anti-Virus proved itself to provide comprehensive
protection with a 100% virus detection rate for the GMX email
service, receiving an "excellent" rating. Sophos Anti-Virus became
the first virus protection product to be certified by TÜV
Saarland.
GMX and another provider achieved 100% virus protection during
the tests, whilst other email providers who offered free virus
protection, only achieved a detection rate of 54%.
