SAV Interface provides partners with simple integration and
robust functionality
Sophos, a world leader in anti-virus protection for businesses,
has announced the expansion of its strategic partner network as a
result of the company's continued commitment to partner
development. It now has 100 partners, a 120% increase from the
previous year. In addition, Sophos has also announced the
availability of version 3 of its third-party integration product,
Sophos Anti-Virus (SAV) Interface. This latest version includes
improved scanning technologies, improved resilience against attack,
threat reduction capabilities and availability on a wider range of
operating platforms.
Sophos has spent the past year strengthening its commitment to
its OEM partners to provide customers with fully integrated
products that address multiple security threats. As with previous
releases of SAV Interface, this version is designed specifically to
integrate a partner's solution seamlessly with Sophos's virus
detection engine. Each new feature improves virus detection and
prevention capabilities.
By partnering with other leaders in security technology such as
CipherTrust, Mirapoint and Sybari, Sophos can provide businesses
with a unified security strategy while still maintaining its focus
on virus detection.
"Security threats to an organisation come in a number of
different forms - all of which need to be addressed and accounted
for," said Rich Baldry, SAV Interface product manager, Sophos
Anti-Virus. "However, we know that if we take our focus off virus
detection and prevention, Sophos won't be able to provide the same
level of quality and reliability that differentiates our products
from the rest of the market. By partnering with other leading
security vendors, we can provide customers with a unified security
product that's the best it can possibly be."
"Sophos is one of the easiest - if not the easiest - company to
partner with. This is due to its superior technology and
performance coupled with attentive partnership and development
teams," said Nigel Brooke, VP EMEA, Mirapoint. "Because of all of
the enhancements to the SAV Interface product, we've found that our
development time has been drastically reduced. This - coupled with
Sophos's clear commitment to the development of our business
relationship - enables us to have a very close, collaborative
partnership ensuring our mutual success."
New features in this version of SAV Interface include three new
functions to scan files in multiple locations, greater control over
file scanning by reporting status and progress information,
accurate file type detection and reporting regardless of extension,
and improved control over downloading of anti-virus updates. SAV
Interface is now also available more platforms including Windows
95/98/Me, NT/2000/XP, Linux, Solaris, FreeBSD HP-UX, various other
Unix flavours, OpenVMS, OS/2. It is currently in development for
Mac OS X and NetWare.
Sophos is headquartered in Boston, US and Oxford, UK. More information is available at www.sophos.com.
