Appointment recognises contribution to significant market share
increase
Sophos, the world leader in anti-virus solutions
for businesses, has appointed Rob Forsyth as its new Managing
Director for Australia and New Zealand. He replaces Stuart Palmer
who recently left the company to pursue new interests.
Rob Forsyth was previously Sophos's Sales Director for Australia
and New Zealand, and in his 18 months with the company, has
presided over a period of significant sales growth. Sophos
Australia and New Zealand more than doubled its market share in its
financial year-ended March 2003, far outpacing the anti-virus
software industry average.
He has also been responsible for redirecting Sophos's sales
model from being mostly direct to now almost all channel-based.
This has included the appointment of more than 20 strategic
partners in the last 12 months including Kanbay and Getronics.
Rob Forsyth now assumes overall control for Sophos Australia and
New Zealand including the company's marketing, technical support
and research operations.
Prior to joining Sophos, Forsyth spent five years with SOCOG
(the Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games) as
Programme Manager for Workforce Planning and Industrial Relations.
In this role, he was responsible for the planning and management
involved in filling more than 180,000 paid, volunteer and contract
positions. He was also responsible for the site management of the
Blacktown softball and baseball facilities during the Games.
Earlier, Mr Forsyth spent 10 years with leading Australian IT
executive placement and training agency, A.S.K. Solutions
Group.
In the six years leading up to the Sydney Olympics Games and
Sydney Paralympics, he served on the NSW Branch Executive Committee
of the Australian Computer Society.
A long-time Rugby Union 'tragic', Rob Forsyth throws his support
behind the Sophos-sponsored Manly Marlins, NSW Waratahs and The
Wallabies at any given opportunity. When not barracking for his
favourite teams, Rob will be found behind the whistle on other
rugby ovals.
