Sophos and a1eb host local government IT security seminar on 5 February 2003

Sophos, a world leader in corporate anti-virus protection, is inviting Local Government Association (LGA) members responsible for computer security to attend a free seminar on the current virus threats and the most recent developments in computer security and e-government. This day-long event will take place at the LGA, Local Government House in Central London on 5 February. There is no charge to attend.

Speakers will include:

Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant for Sophos and one of the world's leading virus experts, will speak about trends in virus writing and predictions of future threats and how to protect against them.

Andrew Hewertson, director at a1eb, a Sophos-certified partner, is a specialist in compliance auditing against agreed standards such as the e-gif framework.

As well as providing information on how best to manage virus protection in complex networked environments, this seminar will include technical demonstrations of Sophos's award-winning technology. Attendees will be able to test out MailMonitor, a Sophos product that scans all email traffic and uses 'threat reduction' technology to provide extra protection against mass-mailing viruses. Sophos will also introduce a brand new technology which enables remote workers to access regularly updated anti-virus protection from a central installation directory on their company's website or network.

At the event, a1eb and Sophos will launch their package of solutions designed exclusively for local government. A question and answer session where attendees can query the experts about security issues will close the day.
