Sophos Anti-Virus protection layer added to EMS Cortex secure
internet connectivity and services platform

Sophos, a world leader in anti-virus protection for business,
today announced it has signed an OEM agreement with EMS-Global, a
provider of secure internet connectivity services and solutions.
Under the terms of the agreement, Sophos Anti-Virus will now
feature as an embedded element of EMS-Global's highly successful
flagship product, EMS Cortex.
EMS Cortex ensures a secure internet protocol (IP) communication
platform, allowing service providers, such as telcos, to give
customers safe and secure access to a range of value added network
services, monitored and managed around the clock.
EMS Cortex is available in Australia through 'SecurePoint', a
managed services offering from AAPT. Similarly in New Zealand, EMS
Cortex is the core component of the 'Safecom' offering from Telecom
New Zealand, which underpins the security of Telecom's data
services delivery to major corporate customers. British Telecom has
introduced EMS Cortex to the United Kingdom market under the
'Ultimus' brand of security offerings. In addition, EMS Cortex is
available through the Managed Service Provider (MSP) model in
Australia, Asia and Europe.
"EMS Cortex offers a solution that incorporates many of the
world's best security features, offering protection 24x7," said Mr
Martin Freeman, Managing Director, Australia, for EMS-Global.
"Sophos adds an important layer of anti-virus scanning to the EMS
Cortex framework, providing heightened protection against virus
attacks and greater confidence to businesses."
According to Sophos's Mr Stuart Palmer, Managing Director for
Australia and New Zealand, the agreement with EMS-Global represents
a strategic alliance for Sophos, underscoring the company's
commitment to boost sales through embedded or bundled solutions.
"EMS Cortex is a great platform for service providers and, with the
inclusion of Sophos Anti-Virus, offers businesses very high
security," he said.
"We recognise the regional strengths of the EMS-Global offering
in Australia and New Zealand through its partnerships with AAPT and
Telecom New Zealand, and we are delighted that EMS-Global has
selected Sophos to be its strategic partner."
