Move to meet rapidly expanding local demand for Sophos's
anti-virus solutions
Manila - Sophos, a world leader in corporate anti-virus
protection, has enhanced its position as a key vendor with the
appointment of seven new business partners in the Philippines. This
strategic move will greatly increase the availability of Sophos's
product suite to enterprises throughout the Philippines.
Sophos's new business partners in the Philippines are: Micro
Genesis, InfoBahn, Gable Computing, I-Secure, TechSecure, Tridel
Technology Inc. and Trends & Technologies, Inc. These companies
will offer Sophos's extensive suite of anti-virus solutions to all
levels of businesses - including MNCs, educational institutions,
utilities and government bodies in the country.
Today, there are over 73,000 computer viruses in existence with
hundreds more discovered each month. In the Philippines, there has
been an increasing number of internet/extranet users, leading to a
rise in virus propagation. Two years ago, the infamous Love Bug was
allegedly written in and distributed from the Philippines. To
further protect organisations within the country against computer
viruses and hack attacks, last year the Philippine government
enacted their e-Commerce Law.
"The continuous reports of enterprises being infected by
computer viruses indicates that some still do not have adequate
protection in place," said Charles Cousins, Managing Director of
Sophos Asia. "A multi-layered approach, combined with safe
computing practices, is essential to building a complete defence.
Sophos, in partnership with these companies, is able to deliver
this."
Sophos will provide extensive support to the seven partners
including training and sales tools to enable them to advise
customers on safe anti-virus practices, marketing assistance, and
access to a Business Partner website, where they will be able to
secure information and technical support. Sophos also supports
partner sales efforts by managing all aspects of software
subscriptions directly, advising partners of customers' license
expiry and automatically emailing details of the latest virus
identities to end users.
The Sophos product range offers a unique solution to the virus
problem, providing all-points protection for corporate users. The
company has built its reputation from a strong and loyal global
customer base. More than 60% of the company's worldwide turnover
comes from outside the UK.
A free email notification
service for new virus threats is available.
Sophos is headquartered in Boston, US and Oxford, UK. More information is available at www.sophos.com.
